Older children face bigger feelings, whether that’s friendship politics, 11+ nerves, or growing up generally. We normalise the wobbles, teach children to name them, and keep parents in the loop before small things become big ones
Children learn best when they feel safe, happy and understood, so every member of staff, not a designated few, takes responsibility for pupils’ wellbeing. Confidence is built through support, praise and encouragement; achievements academic and otherwise get noticed and celebrated; and standards of behaviour are high because children are shown what respect looks like, daily.
